Draft 6

Vidu is born as a Sinhalese being adopted by the Indian Tamils. He grew up with a very close friend, Gihan who is also a Sinhalese. Vidu’s parents forced their Vidu not to speak Sihala but to speak in Tamil language and live in a Sinhalese culture. Even though Vidu and Gihan do not speak the same language, he learnt some Sinhala from Gihan and they get along very well. In 1942, when Vidu and Gihan are 5 years old, everything seems to be in peace till that day came around.
14 years later, after Sri Lanka was given their independence for 8 years, the government decided to promote the “Sinhala only” policy and that severely affected Vidu as he had been speaking Tamil language since young. The government also announced that the Tamils will be given 3 years to learn the language. Otherwise they will be dismissed from government service. This policy had not affected Vidu yet as he is still a student.
The next policy came around and the government promoted is that English educated Tamil students were to score higher marks than the Sinhalese students as the government noticed that there is an equal amount of students in the higher standard course such as the medical studies. Therefore, this policy is to limit the amount of Tamils entering these courses. The objective is to make a same ratio of students as the population in Sri Lanka. Vidu and Gihan had scored the same marks in their examinations so they thought that they could enter the same course. Unfortunately, Vidu was not allowed into the course because the policy had increased the standard of Tamil students. Vidu felt that this law is very unfair to the Tamils therefore he decided to join the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam(LTTE). He and others Tamils wants the rights that all citizens have. Once in a dark alley, Gihan was able to contact with Vidu.
‘I’ve heard that you had decided to join the LTTE, why are you doing this? ‘Gihan asked in a worrying look on his face.
‘My university admission was unsuccessful even though I had the same marks as you and I did not manage to get into the same university as you’ he hollered with his face filled with anger. ‘This is very biased against the Tamils.’
20 years later, the LTTE was known to everyone and started the Sri Lankan Civil War. The insurgency caused significant hardships for the population, environment and the economy of the country. Creating havoc over the years, fighting for their own freedom but others only regards them as the terrorists. Vidu killed several people who are all Sinhalese and Gihan could just stand at the side watching him killing his own race. It seems that Vidu had forgotten who he was already. Vidu eventually became the right hand man of the leader of LTTE. His vision is blurred by his desires.

Discussion of my career choice

Chefs, cooks, and food preparation workers may work to prepare, flavor, and cook many different kinds of foods ranging from soups, snacks, and salads to main dishes, sides, and desserts in food establishments such as restaurants. The primary responsibility of chefs and cooks is to create recipes and prepare meals. Generally, chefs and cooks follow a recipe to prepare food by measuring, mixing, and cooking. They use an assortment of equipment including pots, pans, cutlery, ovens, broilers, grills, slicers, grinders, and blenders. Additionally, chefs and head cooks are in charge of directing other workers in the kitchen, estimating food necessities, and ordering materials. Restaurants and food service establishments that are bigger usually obtain diverse menus and expanded kitchen staffs. They frequently have numerous chefs and cooks who are often called assistant or line cooks and less advanced kitchen workers which include food preparers. Each of the chefs and cooks work in a designated area, furnished with the types of equipment and ingredients for specific foods prepared in that area. Job titles are often associated with the main ingredient used or type of cooking, for example, vegetable cook, fry cook, or grill cook.

After that, red cross and national police cadet corps demostrated some life saving skills and everyone have their attention on the presentors. I went to report to my teacher in charge during the demostration and I went to the place I will be having my duty. The duty seems easy but tiring because I have to carry heavy bags from classes under the hot sun and i am sweating profusely. Everyone ran including our school principal,vice-principal and students. Everyone tried their best and Edmund from my class came in first and everyone is very proud of him as we could see he tried his very best.

Holidays 08

In the holidays of 2008, I did not went overseas rather did i stay at home too often. I went out for basketball on weekdays and weekends and sometimes went cycling. Sometimes I do worry about what will be my class next year. Will it be a class with conflicts? Will I be left out as not much of my friends are there? There is no point worrying about it anymore. Let nature take it's course and not to worry it too much.I went out for the movie High School Musical 3 and it is quite a pleasant movie and I love the songs in it. I went to a class chalet and it was really fun. We spent a lot of time together and i cherish every moment there. I know it will be the last time our class unite on this way and I really want it to last. At night we watch movies till we slept and went to wild wild wet too. It is my first time there and I had a wonderful time. On the last day, I could not bear to leave but I think it is time to let it go. Goodbye Respect 4 2008.
